Buddha Sakyamuni, his life and his teaching - 4 modules
Meditation by the Rector - 3 modules
Buddhist logic (pramanavarttikam of Dharmakirti) - 5 modules

SECOND YEAR :

Buddhist meditation in theory and practice.
( 2 hrs per week, 2 hrs / w)

Introduction to Buddhism ( how to teach common Buddhist lessons) ( 2 hrs / w). 

The research methodology on buddhism.( 2 hrs / w).

History of buddhism in India. ( 2 hrs/w)

History of buddhism in China.( 2 hrs/w)

History of Buddhism in the world ( Vietnam, Korea, Japan,Tibet, South East Asia, Europe, America, Australia, Africa) ( 10 hrs/w)

History of Indian  philosophy including Islam.( 2 hrs/w)

History of Chinese philosophy ( excluding buddhism)
( 2 hrs/w)

History of western philosophy (metaphysics, ethics, psychology, logic).( 2 hrs/w)

 

THIRD YEAR :

The Scholars of the Southern Buddhist School ( 1 hr/w)

The Scholars of the Northern Buddhist School ( 1 hr/w)

History of Indian Buddhist philosophy.( 2 hrs/w)

History of Chinese and Tibetan Buddhist philosophies.
( 2 hrs/w)

 Essentials of the Agama Sutra.( 1 hr/w)

Essentials of Buddhist studies.( 2 hrs/w)

 Essentials of Buddhist rules and disciplines.( 2 hrs/w)

 The different schools of Indian Buddhism.( 2 hrs /w)

FOURTH YEAR :

Origin of the Sunyata school after the Agama Sutra, The Mahaprajna Paramita Sutra, The Diamond Sutra and the Platform of the 6th Patriarch Sutra.( 1 hr/w)

Essentials of the Mahaprajna Paramita Sutra ( Buddha’s teaching on the true nature of the phenomena.)( 1 hr/w) 

Buddhist view on the nature of the phenomena after the Mahaprajna Paramita Sutra texts.( 2 hrs/w)

The phenomenology ( as of the form ) after the consciousness school.( 1 hr/w) 

Introduction to phenomenology after the consciousness school.( 4 hrs/w) 

The buddhist phenomenology after the consciousness school.( 2 hrs/w)

 The True Permanence doctrine after the Surangama Sutra, The perfect Enlightenment Sutra, and The awakening of faith on Mahayana. ( 4 hrs/w)

Tathagatha garbha : hidden buddhahood. ( 2 hrs/w )

Buddhist logic ( Buddhist dialectics and the treaty of the middle by Nagarjuna )( 4 hrs/w)

Buddhist establishment management.( 2 hrs/w)

Languages to be chosen and learnt every year : French, Pali, Sanskrit, Classic Chinese, Tibetan and Japanese.

The Eastern and Western philosophies Bachelor Degree course lasts 4 years. During their 1st year, students are expected to learn mainly English and Chinese ( so that they may follow later the lectures directly in these two languages) while taking other subjects of the above curriculum. Details of the subjects will be advised by the teaching staff at a later stage.
